The manufacturer adds a new perpetual calendar to its rich range of calendar watches, featuring a day, date, and month display in a large single aperture at 12 o’clock.
To combine originality, readability, and reliability, the manufacturers developed a new self-winding movement, which has three patent applications pending.
This new perpetual calendar in line takes flight in an elegant platinum case paired with a blue dial.

A New Face for an Iconic Grand Complication
With the launch of Reference 5236P-001,Patek Philippe gives a new face to the perpetual calendar.
This replica watches uk features a unique display mode with a large aperture grouping the day, date, and month indications on a single level at 12 o’clock.
This type of”panoramic”aperture is not entirely new to the brand’s collections.
Throughout its history, the manufacturer has already produced pocket watches featuring this in-line display for the American market.
Eager for watch complications, but also for ease of use, customers in the New World wanted to be able to read their perpetual calendar indications at a glance.
An example of these timepieces can be found in the Patek Philippe Museum,a 1972 pocket watch(No.P-1450)featuring an”American calendar”(month-date-day).

However, the in-line perpetual calendar display as seen on the new reference 5236P-001 had never before been featured on a wristwatch from the manufacturer.
To achieve this feat of miniaturization,Patek Philippe had to overcome new technical challenges.
To ensure optimal readability, with the largest possible in-line displays.
The designers were tasked with developing a system comprising two discs for the date, one for the tens, the second for the units.
The calendar indications are therefore provided by a total of four discs–one for the day.
Two for the date, and one for the month–perfectly aligned on the same plane.
A single date disc with the 31 digits of the date would have presented indications that were too small and therefore less legible.
In accordance with one of the essential principles of the manufacture, enshrined in the requirements of the Patek Philippe Seal.
This complexity had to be accommodated within a minimum diameter and thickness, while offering maximum long-term reliability.
The master craftsmen chose to base their work on the caliber 31-260 REG QA.
Launched in 2011 in the Annual Calendar Regulator reference 5235.
An automatic movement distinguished by its extremely thin base construction(thanks in particular to an off-center mini-rotor),with a small seconds at 6 o’clock.

While maintaining the same diameter and thickness of the base movement(31.74 x 2.60 mm,hence the designation 31-260).
The designers of the new caliber 31-260 PS QL(PS for”small seconds,”QL for”perpetual calendar in line”)have completely reworked it,incorporating the manufacture’s latest technical advances.
To enable it to drive the perpetual calendar,a particularly energy-intensive type of mechanism, the movement has been”boosted,”so to speak.
The barrel torque has been increased by 20%and the winding power of the mini-rotor has been reinforced thanks to the use of platinum.
A metal with a greater mass than the 22 ct gold normally used for Patek Philippe mini-rotors.
The frequency has been increased from 3.2 to 4 Hz(28,800 vibrations per hour)–which improves rate stability .
And facilitates adjustment to the precision tolerances of the Patek Philippe Seal.
Caliber 31-260 PS QL has also been equipped with a reduction wheel to disengage.
The automatic winding during manual winding and thus limit wear–an innovation patented by Patek Philippe in 2019.
The aesthetics of the movement have also been subtly reworked with the creation of two separate bridges for the escapement and the seconds hand.

This arrangement, which complicates the task of the manufacturers, ensures better visibility of the workings.
