In 2023,Omega launched a new hairspring that enables extremely high precision.
This is the patented Spirate™system, and the associated promise seems almost megalomaniacal:watches equipped with the Spirate™system are said to have a ridiculously small deviation of 0/+2 seconds per day.
In keeping with this,Omega launched its own institute for high-precision chronometric testing, the Laboratoire de Précision,in 2024.

The LdP is here-replica watches
Will COSC soon be history?
The Spirate™system was first installed in the Omega Speedmaster Super Racing Replica Watches, introduced in 2023.
This magnificent watch honors the 10th anniversary of the Seamaster Aqua Terra>15,000 GAUSS,which was launched in 2013:
How does the new Spirate™system work?
To accomplish this small miracle,a completely new Si14 hairspring with an external adjustment mechanism was devised.
Thanks to this new system, watchmakers can influence the stiffness of the hairspring and thus its accuracy much more reliably.
”Adjusting the accuracy is much easier with the Spirate™system than before and therefore less prone to errors,”explains watchmaker Maximiliane Häffner.
”If the hairspring becomes stiffer, the balance wheel runs faster;if it becomes looser,it runs slower.”

In which replica watches is the Spirate™system installed?
According to Omega, the Spirate™system will gradually be used in other Omega movements, but that will of course take some time. The first watch to be equipped with the finely adjusted Omega Spirate™system is the stainless steel Speedmaster Super Racing, which features strong contrasts–black and yellow–and the signature racing-style minute track.
At the heart of the watch ticks the caliber 9920 with the new Spirate™system, which sets the highest standards in precision and magnetic resistance while offering a 60-hour power reserve. The honeycomb pattern on the dial is reminiscent of a”concept watch that withstood 160,000 gauss”(omegawatches.com).
These milestones led to the Spirate™system.
1999:Co-Axial Escapement
The Co-Axial Escapement minimized the contact surfaces in the movement, thus reducing friction.
At the same time, movements with Co-Axial escapements require less lubrication.
This results in greater precision and lowers maintenance costs.
The Co-Axial Escapement was invented by British watchmaker George Daniels, and the patent was registered in 1999 by the
2008:Si14 Balance Spring
Silicone components were increasingly used in the watch industry from the 2000s onwards to improve shielding against magnetism.
Omega also relied on silicon, which is extremely robust and resilient, with the Si14 balance spring in 2008.
2013:It doesn’t get any more antimagnetic:Co-Axial Caliber 8508
In 2013,Omega developed the Co-Axial Caliber 8508,which it claims is”the company’s first truly antimagnetic movement.”
The Si14 balance spring and other ferromagnetic components ensure that the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra can withstand magnetic fields of more than 15,000 gauss.
By comparison, the antimagnetic Rolex Milgauss tool watch can withstand magnetic fields of up to 1,000 gauss.
2015:Master Chronometer
In 2015,Omega introduced the Master Chronometer certification in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology(METAS).
The 283-step testing procedure includes eight tests over 10 days, far exceeding industry standards.
